A Foundation of Sustainable
Strategies and Practices

Appleton Corporation has made sustainability a foundation of our work for more than a decade. Where other companies have had to race to join the "green" movement, Appleton has been ahead of the curve in integrating sustainability practices into our daily routine.

We have a distinct advantage over most companies: As part of the O'Connell Companies, Inc., we are able to work closely with the O'Connell Energy Group (OEG), a leader in sustainability for over 20 years with ownership in hydroelectric facilities, extensive experience in energy management, and vast experience commissioning and consulting on solar projects throughout New England.

This affiliation has helped make Appleton a recognized leader in automated energy management. We install and monitor computerized energy-management systems and co-generation programs that have, in some cases, reduced property owners' utility consumption by as much as 25%.

We also have the ability in today's deregulated utility environment to negotiate energy commodity purchases that, along with other energy-saving strategies, enable us to help both building's owners and tenants cut energy costs.

Another advantage Appleton has is our people. President Paul Stelzer is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and members of our development and OEG teams are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professionals (LEED AP) certified. As such, they are more than qualified to provide clients and landlords with the most up-to-date practices in the industry when financial capacity is available.
